Community categories

Community categories shows the part of Actualog's shared category taxonomy associated with one community.

A community does not own a separate copy of a category. The same canonical category can be relevant to more than one community. Community scope determines where it is discovered and which community facets can be used to browse it.

What you can do

  • browse categories associated with the selected community;
  • move through parent and child category relationships;
  • open a category to read its description, position, attributes, and related information;
  • use the community facet tree to narrow the visible taxonomy;
  • continue from a category to related products, companies, experts, or catalogs when those links are available.

How to browse community categories

  1. Expand a joined community under Explore Communities.
  2. Select Categories.
  3. Confirm the community context in the page header or route.
  4. Browse the hierarchy or select facets to narrow the list.
  5. Open a category to inspect it.

If the community is not in the Sidebar, join it from Choose community first, or use View to browse its summary without joining.

Community scope versus company relationships

Community categories are for discovery in a product domain. Company–Category Relationships are different: they state where a company works and which business role it has for a category. Browsing a community does not create a company relationship.

Common mistakes

  • Do not assume a category belongs exclusively to one community.
  • Do not use community membership as evidence of category editing permission.
  • If the list looks empty, clear facet filters and confirm the selected community.
